Online Progressive Glasses Return Policies Compared: 4 Retailers

Lens InsiderS cover asking what to do when progressives feel wrong, with glasses branching to neutral refund, exchange, remake, and warranty symbols.

Evidence label: Comparison Last checked: August 22, 2026

Editorial note: This independent comparison is based on the four retailers’ published return, exchange, credit, and remake terms. Lens InsiderS did not test a return or service response, and no affiliate or tracking links are included.

When progressives feel wrong, the useful policy is not the biggest number in a banner. It is the deadline and remedy that apply to your exact problem: preference, refund, store credit, exchange, verified lab error, or changed prescription.

Short answer

As checked August 22, 2026, GlassesUSA’s live Terms of Use and eyewear-return Help Center state a 45-day eyewear return period, although some GlassesUSA marketing and insurance-page wording still displays 60 days. Zenni offers an original-payment refund within 14 days or store credit within 30; FramesDirect uses a 30-day return and lens-accuracy framework; SportRx offers 45 days for return/remake and 60 days for a prescription-change remake. Policies are volatile, and conditions, shipping, inspections, and item exclusions can change the practical remedy.

One progressive-glasses problem can lead to four different policy remedies: refund, exchange, remake, or warranty review.

How the four policies were compared

I reviewed the retailers’ official policy pages using the same fields: request deadline, refund, exchange or credit, remake trigger, shipping, item condition, and prescription-change treatment. This comparison helps readers identify the relevant remedy; it does not diagnose a lens problem, and no return or service response was tested.

Main findings: deadline-first matrix

Retailer Start/request deadline Refund Exchange/store credit Remake or Rx-change route Important condition
GlassesUSA Use 45 days after delivery as the conservative deadline; some site wording still says 60 Full refund published Equal-value exchange or 100% store credit Return terms cover eyeglasses, subject to condition and order rules Free digital return label for eligible U.S. returns; live terms say ship within 6 business days after receiving it
Zenni 14 days refund; 30 days store credit Original payment, shipping excluded One-time-use store credit within 30 days No-charge remake if inspection confirms manufacturing error RA and original/unmodified condition required
FramesDirect 30 days Refund path available Exchange or store credit Same-package replacement/credit if lenses are found inaccurate; Rx change within 30 days may qualify for free remake Refund shipping treatment differs from exchange; returned lenses are evaluated
SportRx 45 days; Rx-change remake 60 days Full refund published Exchange or remake Prescription-change remake within 60 days Domestic standard return shipping covered; condition/exclusion rules apply

Policy labels are not interchangeable. Zenni’s 30-day store-credit period is not a 30-day cash-refund period. SportRx’s 60 days refers to a prescription-change remake, not a general 60-day refund. FramesDirect’s accuracy remedy depends on evaluation and same-package constraints.

GlassesUSA: official pages currently conflict

As checked August 22, 2026, GlassesUSA’s live Terms of Use and eyewear-return Help Center article state a 45-day return period for eyeglasses. The terms describe a refund, equal-or-lesser-value exchange, or store credit and a digital prepaid label; they say an eligible return must be shipped within 6 business days after the label is received. However, GlassesUSA’s insurance page and some site-wide promotional wording still display 60 days.

Because the retailer’s own pages conflict, use 45 days as the conservative action deadline, save the terms shown for the exact order, and ask GlassesUSA to confirm any longer window in writing.

Zenni: choose refund or credit quickly

Zenni’s current policy gives 14 days from delivery for a refund to the original payment method, excluding shipping, and 30 days for one-time-use store credit. A return authorization is required. Manufacturing-error claims may be inspected; if Zenni determines the glasses were made incorrectly, it says it will remake them without charge (Zenni return terms, Zenni Warranty & Returns).

FramesDirect: classify the reason for return

FramesDirect publishes a 30-day return/exchange policy. The detailed page says exchanges can receive prepaid return shipping in the continental U.S.; refund returns are not eligible, and using a supplied label for a refund may produce a $9 deduction. For lenses found inaccurate, it describes a same-package replacement or store credit after evaluation (FramesDirect returns).

Its lens guarantee says a doctor-confirmed prescription change within 30 days can receive a free same-frame remake; days 31–90 are described at 50% of retail cost, with same type/material/options restrictions (FramesDirect guarantee). Confirm whether the case is preference, fit, verified lab error, or changed Rx.

SportRx: 45-day general route, 60-day Rx-change route

SportRx’s See Better Guarantee says customers may begin a remake, exchange, or full refund within 45 days, with standard domestic return shipping covered. It separately states a prescription-change remake within 60 days (SportRx guarantee). Confirm item exclusions, condition requirements, and charges for upgrades or changed options.

One short triage before the deadline

Save the prescription, entered values, PD, lens package, delivery date, photos of normal frame position, and a note of which distance or gaze is unclear. Do not alter or repair the frame before asking about eligibility. Use the guides to troubleshoot blurry new progressive lenses and understand progressive-lens adaptation problems. Persistent blur or headaches should be checked rather than managed only by waiting; pain, double vision, flashes, new floaters, or sudden vision changes require prompt professional assessment.

Pros and limitations

GlassesUSA: current official pages conflict between 45- and 60-day wording, so written order-specific confirmation matters. Zenni: clear refund/credit split; cash-refund decision comes fastest. FramesDirect: distinct lens-accuracy and Rx-change routes; classification, inspection, shipping, and same-package rules matter. SportRx: general 45-day path plus Rx-change language; exceptions and upgrade costs still require confirmation.

Best for / not ideal for

Best policy fit depends on remedy: shoppers wanting more evaluation time may value longer general windows; shoppers protecting a cash refund must watch Zenni’s 14-day deadline; lab-error and Rx-change scenarios require the specific guarantee language.

Not ideal: choosing a retailer solely from the headline window. A policy cannot replace a current Rx, ADD, accurate PD, suitable frame/lens height, fitting-height method, stable fit, or correct lens type.

Return and remake considerations

Ask four questions in writing: What starts the clock? What remedy applies to this reason? Who pays shipping? Does a remake have to keep the same frame, lens type, material, and options? Save the answer with the policy version and case number.

Alternatives

  • Professional frame adjustment before return when position is the only variable.
  • Independent lens verification against the written prescription.
  • In-person dispensing after repeated online progressive failures.
